Our Staff


DDarlene James, Director, is a graduate of New Mexico State with a Bachelor of Music Education degree, and holds a Master of Music Education degree from the University of Northern Colorado. She has completed the Orff Schulwerk certification program at Colorado State University. Darlene has been in music education for thirty-seven years and currently teaches at Meeker Elementary School in District 6. Darlene and her husband Jerry have two children, Brianna and Jared, and one grandchild, Dawson.
HHannah Webster, Assistant Director, received her Bachelor of Music degree from Colorado State University and holds her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Study from the University of Northern Colorado. She is currently in her 9th year of teaching music and loves serving the students in District 6, especially her Spartan students at Greeley West High School! Hannah and her husband, Barett, have been married for 3 years and have two, incredible little boys, Jaxon (2) and Nolan (6 months).
PPam Korth, Director, graduated from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Pam recently retired from teaching music in the public schools after thirty-six years. She is one of the original directors of the Greeley Children’s Chorale and is now in her twenty-eighth year with the choir. Pam also sings in the adult Greeley Chorale. She and her husband Joe enjoy spending time with their family — Michael & Jeni and daughter Olivia, and Sarah & Adam and daughter Emersyn. Both Michael and Sarah are alumni of the GCC.
MMegan Nugent, Assistant Director, is an Arizona native who graduated as a Presser Scholar from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Music Education. As a french horn player, Megan has had opportunities to play in Germany, Holland, China, and the United States where she currently continues to perform and teach private lessons around the northern Colorado area. She is the current president of the Boulder Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, an international music fraternity for women. Megan and her husband Tom teach music in Greeley schools, but she is currently on leave to stay home with their children, David and Adalynn. When she’s not in Greeley, Megan can often be found in Rocky Mountain National Park, where she has worked as a park ranger.
KKris Pierce, Director, is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree and a Master of Arts degree in Elementary Education. Kris also received her Orff Certification from UNC. She is in her twenty-ninth year of teaching music in District 6 and currently teaches kindergarten through eighth grade general music and choir at Chappelow K-8 Arts Magnet School. Kris is in her 22nd year with GCC. She has been a guest conductor for several honor choirs, including an All-City Elementary Honor Choir in Ft. Collins as well as a Brighton Middle School Honor Choir. Larry and Kris have five children; Jenn, Annie, Steven, Max and Simone; and four grandchildren, Lilly, Lexi, Hayes and Madix.
SOriginally from Canada, Sue Davis, Director, received a Bachelor of Music degree in Honours Music Education from the University of Western Ontario. She is an Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music and also holds a Master’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She is currently the music specialist at Bella Romero Academy K–3 and was the guest director of the 2015 Eastern Colorado Honor Choir. She has two children, Samantha and Brian, who are both alumni of GCC.


PPeter Romero, Accompanist, graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor of Music degree in Theory and Composition. He has performed with the UNC Concert Choir, UNC Men’s Glee Club, and Greeley Chamber Choir. As a child, he worked under GCC founder Dr. Kay Copley in some of her local musical productions. He is currently a freelance web designer, composer, artist, and keyboardist at St. Peter’s and St Mary’s Catholic Churches in Greeley. Peter has composed many children’s choral pieces, of which GCC has performed many, including Imagination, Bill’s Song, Believe, In the Rain, White the Color of the Water, On and On, and many others. SSandra Varley, Accompanist, received her Bachelors of Music Education from UNC in 1981, where she was a full-time staff accompanist from 1982–1986. During this time, she was featured with the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, the Greeley Chamber Orchestra, Colorado All-State Choir, and numerous individual faculty and student recitals. Following completion of a Master of Arts in professional psychology in 1986, Sandra entered the counseling profession, and has been practicing as a licensed psychotherapist since 1993. In 2005, she obtained a Ph.D. Clinical Psychology. During these 20 years she has continued to be active in music, performing in recitals, concerts, and community events.
